Graduate Programs - Masters Degrees
In the Department of Mathematics, we offer MA. in Mathematics program with three concentrations: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics. In addition, we also offer the MS. in Data Science and PhD. in Data Science program together with the Department of Computer Science. For details about these programs, you can click on the links below.
Teaching Fellowship:
The Department of Mathematics offers a limited number of Teaching Fellowships for full-time graduate students. For information about the teaching fellow, please click here.
Mathematics: Applied Mathematics Concentration (M.A.)
The MA in Mathematics with Applied Mathematics concentration aims to equip students with advanced mathematical techniques and analytical skills for solving real-world problems across various fields, including science, engineering, finance, and technology. The program focuses on the application of mathematical theories, computational methods, and statistical tools to model and analyze complex systems, enabling graduates to work effectively in interdisciplinary settings. The program prepares students for industrial careers or PhD programs in the field of applied mathematics and related fields.
Mathematics: Pure Mathematics Concentration (M.A.)
The MA in Mathematics with Pure Mathematics concentration focuses on deepening students' understanding of mathematical theory and abstract concepts, providing a strong foundation in areas like algebra, real and complex analysis, topology, and geometry. The program emphasizes rigorous logical reasoning, proof techniques, and the development of new mathematical ideas. Students gain skills in problem-solving and theoretical exploration, preparing them for careers in academia, research, or fields that require strong analytical thinking. This program is ideal for those interested in advancing mathematical knowledge, either through teaching, further research, or applying abstract mathematics to other disciplines.
Mathematics: Statistics Concentration (M.A.)
The MA in Mathematics with Statistics concentration provides students with advanced training in statistical theory, data analysis, and applied methodologies to extract insights from data and make data-driven decisions. The program focuses on topics like probability, inference, regression, and computational statistics, equipping students to design experiments, analyze complex datasets, and model uncertainties in various domains. Graduates are prepared for careers in sectors such as healthcare, finance, technology, and research, where they apply statistical expertise to solve real-world problems. The program also lays a strong foundation for those interested in pursuing further research or teaching in statistics.
Data Science (M.S.)
The Master of Science in Data Science program is designed for individuals with a Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field who are looking to expand their knowledge and opportunities in Data Science. The program has a strong background in Data Mining, Modeling, and Statistical and Machine Learning.
Graduate Programs - Doctoral Degrees
Data Science (Ph.D.)
The Ph.D. in Data Science program will provide the essential skills required to analyze big and complex data sets and equip students with a broad understanding of data challenges and opportunities.
