Bridget BoyleMolecular & Cellular Biosciences
Bridget is a Translational & Biomedical Sciences major and a Rowan field hockey team player that has accomplished so much while at Rowan. Since spring 2018, she has been researching cerebellar developmental changes in a mouse model of the neurodegenerative disease Niemann-Pick Type C with Dr. Ileana Soto. Bridget has presented her findings at regional and national scientific conferences and has collaborated on projects from Dr. Keck’s laboratory at Rowan University and Dr. Lepore’s laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University. She is a co-author of a scientific publication from the Soto laboratory and will attend graduate school at Thomas Jefferson University to complete a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience. Because of her academic success, Bridget was awarded twice the President’s Scholar of Excellence for the College of Science and Mathematics, and the Doris V. Broome Scholarship. As a result of her excellent performance as a student and athlete, she has been awarded the Academic All-American Athlete award at Rowan since 2016.

Liam DohertyMathematics
Liam Doherty grew up in Burlington County, New Jersey. He attended BCIT high school in Medford and graduated in two and a half years with a focus in electrical engineering. Concurrently, he earned an associate degree in Mathematics from Rowan College of Burlington County. He began attending Rowan University in Fall 2018, where he studied mathematics under the mentorship of Professor Thanh Nguyen. While here, he gave two presentations on machine learning in transportation, one at the MathFest national conference in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2019. He performed admirably on the highly competitive Putnam Exam. In his graduating semester, at just 18 years old, Liam is taking advanced, graduate-level mathematics courses. Liam will be attending Drexel University to complete a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. |
Samuel FosterChemistry
Samuel Foster is graduating with his Bachelor of Science in chemistry. While at Rowan, Sam excelled at undergraduate reseach and published three peer-reviewed articles. He worked in the lab of Dr. James Grinias doing analytical chemistry research on the development of low cost and open source analytical instrumentation and method and system developments on commercial studies. Sam has presented at Pittcon and the Eastern Analytical Symposium (EAS), the two major analytical chemistry conferences in the United States. He was also awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award in 2019, which is presented to the top four undergraduate analytical chemists in the nation each year. After graduation, Sam plans to pursue a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Rowan. |
Haylie HenniganBiochemistry
Haylie has been doing organic chemistry research in Assistant Professor Gustavo Moura-Letts' laboratory for the last three years. She received the College of Science & Mathematics's Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) award for the summer of 2019 and from those efforts she has one publication under review and another one in preparation. Haylie plans to become an organic chemistry professor and will be attending Purdue University to complete a Ph.D. She is outstanding in the classroom and in the laboratory and often mentors new students in Professor Gustavo Moura-Letts' lab.

Michael KlimkiewiczSchool of Health Professions
Michael Klimkiewicz is an exceptional Exercise Science major. He is devoted to continuing his education in a physical therapy program. Mike has been an extremely reliable and indispensable member of the undergraduate research program in the Department of Health & Exercise Science. In his first year as a researcher, he contributed to two studies and presented his findings in the Regional Meeting of American Society of Biomechanics in 2018. In addition, Mike leaded a study that explored the effects of exercise on the motor symptoms of people with schizophrenia, as well as two other studies aimed at developing clinical tools to evaluate motor symptoms in people with multiple sclerosis.

Zachary LeveyPsychology
As reflected by his major in Psychological Science, minors in Human Resource Management and German Studies, concentration in Honors Studies, and field experience at the Federal Aviation Administration, Zachary Levey is an outstanding student. His professors note that it was clear early on that he was an academically gifted student. As an independent study, Zack worked with Dr. Sledjeski on his Advanced Statistics project examining the relationship between voluntary turnover intention, tenure, and job satisfaction in a sample of federal employees. He presented his original findings at the Rowan University Student Scholars symposium and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Outside of the classroom Zack has worked as a Workforce Development Intern at the Federal Aviation Administration for two summers, analyzing strategies for managing employees. He also served as a peer mentor, learning assistant, and tutor. Zack was awarded the Outstanding Underclassmen Award during his junior year. He will be attending Bowling Green State University to complete a Ph.D.

Eric ShawPhysics & Astronomy
Eric Shaw is a strong student of physics both in and out the classroom, a diligent researcher, and a leader in the local community. At Rowan he has performed experimental and theoretical atomic physics research, significantly contributing to a nonlinear optics project that has established a new method for simultaneous frequency-locking of lasers at different wavelengths. As an intrepid Photonics concentrator, he independently arranged for himself a yearlong internship at Edmund Optics, providing a valuable industrial perspective on physics and optics to complement his academic preparation. Eric serves as the President of the Physics Club and worked tirelessly to staff lab tours for orientations sessions, Astronomy open houses, and special events like the “Magic of Science” show. Eric has been an exemplary student at Rowan, eagerly grappling with long and difficult physics problems and giving generously of his time and effort to strengthen the Department.

Joseph TagliaferroComputer Science
Joseph Tagliaferro represents an ideal model of what Computer Science stands for. Not only does Joe excel academically as a member of the Bantivoglio Honors College, but he is an active contributor to numerous departmental programs and activities. He has participated in several research projects such as the Rowan collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb and even presented his research on Big Data - Tools & Techniques: Data Manipulation & Visualization. Joe routinely volunteers his time serving as a Department of Computer Science tutor and learning assistant, Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society Treasurer, and also assists at Open Houses and other community outreach events.

Emily WynneHealth & Exercise Science
Emily is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health. Emily’s commitment to community health stretches beyond the classroom, and she hopes to become a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and work in New Jersey as a Community Health Educator upon graduation. As a junior community health professional, she stays well-informed of current events, politics, and policies, and how they influence community health. She critically applies what she is learning across her courses, weaving the different subject matters almost effortlessly. Emily has a keen understanding of the social determinants of health and how they differentially influence the health of different populations. Emily has been extremely active in the Public Health Club on campus and leads up all of the social media work for the club. She has identified speakers for the club and spearheaded a public health educator to come to campus and discuss their work in campus health with the club. Her well-rounded knowledge of the broad field of community health will carry her far, and she will soon be a Rowan alumni that we will be proud to say graduated from our program.

Fiona YeungBiological Sciences
Fiona is graduating with a B.S. in Biology, a minor in Environmental Science and a Bantivoglio Honors concentration. She is the Animal Care Supervisor in Dr. Matthew Bealor’s lab, which houses numerous fishes and reptiles. She has extensive experience working at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge and has shadowed vets in emergency, small animal and exotics medicine. She worked in South Africa assisting wildlife vets in field/clinic settings rehabilitating juvenile Rhinos and also studied abroad in the Galapagos Islands/Ecuador. Fiona completed research on the nest-building behavior of fishes from Thailand and will present her findings this summer at a national conference. Fiona is a proud founding member and current co-president of Pre-Vet club. She is currently applying to vet med programs in order to pursue a career as a veterinarian.
