DoD SMART Program Scholarship
Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) is a DoD Scholarship Program for STEM Students
NSF sponsored Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) summer program
The U.S. National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF REU) program supports intensive research by undergraduate students in any area of research funded by NSF.
REU opportunities usually involve groups of about 10 students who work on research projects at a host institution based in the U.S. or in a foreign location. At each REU site, students work closely with faculty and other researchers, receiving mentorship and building their professional network.
Co-op Program with Lockheed-Martin
The Cooperative Education Program allows students to gain valuable experiential learning through a full-semester in a technical position.
Instead of taking the regular set of courses during their junior year spring semester, students would be on co-op working full time for Lockheed-Martin. Participation in the Co-op Program is completely voluntary. However, all co-op students would be required to coordinate with the Office of Career Advancement to help accommodate their individual financial aid and housing needs, as well as meet with their CS Academic Advisors to refine their plan of study with possible Spring-Summer courses for a timely graduation. You may contact the department for more details.

National Research Fellowships
When you study physics (or other science and engineering fields) in graduate school, you will likely not have to pay tuition and fees. Many times you are hired to be a teaching assistant or research assistant. The money that you earn is enough to cover your tuition & fees and housing & living expenses. However, there are several graduate fellowships that are available to support your graduate study. These grants typically provide more financial support and several are even quite prestigious. If you are considering these options, be sure to talk with your faculty mentor about them.
