Concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience
The Concentration is intended to serve as an introduction to the field of behavioral neuroscience, which focuses on the interactions between the nervous system and behavior.
Program Goal
Since there are no interdisciplinary course requirements, this concentration is an excellent option for Psychology majors who do not have the biological sciences background to take the upper level biology courses required in the neuroscience minor.Eligibility & Application
This concentration is only available to Psychology (B.A.) or Psychological Science (B.S.) majors. Students must have successfully completed PSY 10315 Physiological Psychology with a B+ or higher to be admitted to the concentration. Students can email University Advising or the concentration coordinator (Dr. Jerry Hough) to have the concentration added.
Coursework
There are 5 required courses in the program (15 credit hours total). All students will receive personal advisement from the Concentration Coordinator.

Perception (PSY 01.326)
Physiological Psychology (PSY 10.315) B+ or Better (Prerequisite for Cognitive Neuroscience)
Cognitive Neuroscience (PSY 10.480)

NOTE: Cellular/Molecular Neuroscience (MCB 01.481) is NOT recommended for Psychology students - requirements include Junior Status AND Introduction to Cell Biology (Biol 01.203), or Foundation of Biology for Biomedical Sciences II (MCB 01.102).
