The role of Instrument Coordinator is to oversee all facets of operation, training and maintenance of all major instrumentation housed within the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. This includes many types of spectroscopy instrumentation, such as Infra-Red, Ultra-Violet/Visible Fluorescence, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, and Inductively Coupled Plasma, as well as chromatography instrumentation, such as Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, and Mass Spectroscopy, and other lesser types of equipment, such as balances, furnaces, centrifuges, evaporators and lyophilizers.
The role of Chemical Hygiene Officer is to oversee the chemical health and safety program, which outlines basic rules and procedures for all aspects of hazardous chemical storage, use, and disposal, and to outline emergency measures to be followed in the event of an accident, such as a chemical spill or a fire.
