High Magnetic Field/Variable Temperature Measurement System (Cryomagnetics)
This device is a superconducting-magnet/cryostat system that is capable of reaching magnetic fields of six tesla. The system is used to measure electrical transport properties of solids as a function of magnetic field and temperature. Temperature is controlled in a gas-flow cryostat that accesses the temperature range from 300K down to 1.6K. This system can reorient crystalline axes with respect to the magnetic field allowing the role of magnetic field orientation to be investigated. The dependence on field orientation can be very dramatic in some materials.
