Abstract

Did you ever wonder why lubricating engines are similar and different from lubricating skin and all the things that go into making a cosmetic product? In this talk we will discuss the essential chemistry concepts behind cosmetic science and the creation of beauty products, from ingredient stability to oxidation and beyond. We will discuss some of the most common product formulation challenges and offer insights into how chemistry is more than science but also an art. 

Location:  The September meeting will be held at Dave & Buster's in Blackwood, NJ.  It is conveniently located off both Route 55 and Route 42.  Directions via Google Maps can be accessed by clicking this link.

The event will cost $25 per person for adult members , and $10 per person for active students. Dinner will be served at the event.

Biography:

Dr. Nabila Brabez is a Ph.D. Chemist, CEO, and Formulator behind Lancolia. With a distinguished career in organic chemistry and formulations, Nabila brings over a decade of experience to Lancolia.

Growing up in Paris, Nabila developed a nose for fine fragrances and scents, which inspired her journey as a chemist. After working in academia and industry, applying chemistry to various topics including cosmetics, skin and pancreatic cancer, environmental chemistry, and petrochemicals, she decided it was time to work on her long-life passion for creating fragrances and manufacturing cosmetic products. Lancolia and Lancolia labs were born. In every aspect of the formulation process, Nabila is guided by chemistry principles to create simple and effective products.
