Biography
I first became interested in teaching math as a career in junior year of high school, thanks in large part to the mentorship of my AP Calculus teacher, Mr. Diaz. He pushed my peers and I to understand math at a deeper level than prior classes, a quality I now strive for in my own Calculus course. After graduating, I majored in math at Drew University in Madison, NJ, where Professors Alan Candiotti and Steve Surace in particular helped guide me on the path towards my current profession. In 2011, I joined the pure math PhD program at UNC Chapel Hill. There I researched algebraic geometry and representations under the invaluable mentorship of Prakash Belkale. I also received there my first taste of teaching success, winning an award for outstanding teaching as a graduate student. After receiving my degree, I did a postdoc for one year at Oklahoma State University before deciding it was finally time to come home. I returned to New Jersey, first teaching at Rutgers before securing my (much better!) position here at Rowan. The Rowan undergraduates have been a joy to work with so far, and I look forward to many more semesters teaching and learning with them.
