This semester’s Student Spotlight is radiant, hard-to-miss Chrissy Quinn. The Mathematics Department is glad to have her... even if they have to share her with the English Department.
Hi everybody, Chrissy here again! Many of you already know me as the Math Team President, a volunteer tutor, or a Community Assistant, but I identify most closely as an English major who stumbled into the dark hallways of Robinson one day and never came out. You can get to know me the best by hearing what I love most about doing math at Rowan:
I adore our amazing community. Everyone is brilliant, articulate, hilarious, and kind. No department on campus can claim to have students with so much talent and so much love for each other. Professor Nassau said it best when he said math–and our department especially–has a culture of collaboration to the very end. I love you all so much.
I love that perfect things are real and achievable if you are willing to picture them very hard for a few hours. I get such a special self-actualizing joy from working with objects that are so beautiful and useful at the same time.
I love Crayola markers, sticky notes, and covering exorbi- tant amounts of paper. Math turns out to be a productive outlet for these particular obsessions.
If you’re a fellow math enthusiast who wants to get more connected to the department or just make a new friend, please feel free to send me an email, or if you see me walking somewhere on campus, just stop me and say hello!
