Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology: Course Information
The Rowan University Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is a full-time program that requires the completion of 77 semester hours over four years plus a full-time, one-year clinical internship at an off-site location. The program is housed in and administered by the Department of Psychology. Classes are primarily held during the day. Students in the program earn both an MA and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology while in the program, although the MA is not a terminal degree program. Part-time enrollment in the program is not permitted.
The coursework for the Rowan University Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology has been designed and sequenced to allow students to develop increasingly complex and cumulative knowledge over the course of their training. Additionally, clinical and research training will be sequenced to allow students to attain increasingly complex clinical and research competencies. Students will receive individual and/or group supervision from faculty and/or external supervisors throughout their training.
The curricular content is designed to be consistent with the American Psychological Association (APA) Accreditation Standards and the Standards for Specialty Training of the APA. The program is currently accredited by the APA. Additionally, these standards align with educational requirements for licensure as a Psychologist, although individual licensing requirements vary by state.
