The B.A. in Psychology degree is designed to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles of human behavior, cognition, and emotion. This program prepares students for a wide range of careers and further educational opportunities.Career Paths
Our graduates enter a wide range of graduate programs and career paths. Some recent positions include: case manager, behavior support technician, police officer, wellness coordinator, preschool paraprofessional, bank teller, and pharmaceutical clean room operator.
Our graduates also attended graduate programs in: ABA, school counseling, clinical mental health counseling, nursing, business administration, social works, school psychology, law school, and human resources.
Curriculum
One of the key strengths of this degree program is its flexibility (39 credits), enabling students to tailor their educational experience to meet their personal and professional goals. This degree is offered in several modalities including in-person, fully online, accelerated (i.e. Degree in 3), and as a 3+1 program with our community college partners. Students are encouraged to pair this degree with other programs offered at Rowan including other majors, minors, concentrations, and certificates of undergraduate studies (CUGS).

Research & Internship Opportunities
Students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors and peers to conduct research outside of the classroom either as a volunteer, for course credit (PSY 01426 Research Clinic in Psychology, required for the BS major) or paid through Federal Work Study funding. Our students have also presented their research at local, regional, national, and international conferences.
Our faculty are engaged in a wide range of research specialties including: psychological and social influence on health, sexual aggression and risk behaviors, prevention of chronic health conditions, schizophrenia, emotional health in neurodivergent populations, religion/spirituality in Black and LGBTQ+ communities, intellectual humility, applied behavior analysis, human factors, anxiety and depression.

Accelerated Pathways
Opportunity to earn this B.A. degree in three yearsThe B.A. degree normally can be completed in four years; however, highly motivated students have the opportunity to streamline their academic career to earn this degree in three years in a year-round program that includes free summer tuition, fees, and housing. Certain eligibility criteria must be met.
Opportunity to earn a Master's Degree with only one additional yearThe B.A. degree normally can be completed in four years; however, highly motivated students have the opportunity to streamline their academic career to earn both a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Applied Behavioral Analysis in five years rather than six. This “4+1” program requires 12 fewer credits to receive both degrees than when obtaining them separately. Hence, it saves students both time and tuition!
