Student Organizations

Students in the Biological Sciences Department are encouraged to join our various student organizations. These clubs provide a valuable opportunity to meet other students, learn more about career opportunities, hear from visiting speakers, participate in service projects on and off campus, and have fun!

SGA Organizations

Biology Club
The Biology Club organizes a number of different educational and social events every year. The Club is also engaged in numerous activities which include field trips and service projects. The Biology Club also serves to introduce students to all fields of Biological Sciences and to prepare students for entrance into Graduate, Medical, Veterinary, and other professional institutions.

American Physician Scientists Association
APSA aims to provide an environment for students to enhance their research involvement in the medical profession on a national level through national APSA events. Once National status is gained the club will proceed with an amended series of events in collaboration with the national organization. We want to allow for the growth of science majors at Rowan University who are interested in research, through a diverse array of research opportunities and mentorship relationships meant to guide students interested in the many branches of science. We also hope to expose premedical students to the unique requirements, opportunities, and challenges associated with MD/PhD and DO/PhD programs. We will facilitate the meeting of and/or networking with other aspiring physician-scientists as well as provide resources for people looking into other research based fields (academia, industry, legal, etc.).

Medicine Education and Development for Low Income Families Everywhere (MEDLIFE Rowan)
MEDLIFE is a national organization whose mission is to help low-income families globally. MEDLIFE Rowan is a chapter of this organization. The club fundraises for the MEDLIFE cause, brings to light the global inequalities of healthcare, makes the campus more health conscious, helps low-income families within the community, and recruits students interested in volunteering at MEDLIFE clinics abroad.

Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS)
MAPS is the undergraduate chapter to the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). This club is founded and sustained off the principle of being a resource to underrepresented premedical students and those who would like to serve underrepresented areas by providing knowledge, skills, and experience that are both prerequisite and concomitant to professional participation in healthcare fields. Our chapter is dedicated and aimed to assist students on their journey of entering medical and health professional fields. The club hosts workshops, programs, community service opportunities and lectures to help expose students and enable them to become competitive candidates for health professional programs. Additionally, students receive direct mentorship from our SNMA counterparts at Cooper Medical School and Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine.

 NeuroClub
The NeuroClub is an organization designed to create a network and support system which allows those interested in the Neuroscience field to gain knowledge, set themselves up for success, and communicate in a group of students with similar interests to learn and expand the field of Neuroscience. Members have the opportunity to hear from speakers, participate in community service events, and network with other students with similar interests in the Neuroscience field.

Membership in our organization offers community service opportunities, visits from different schools, and various workshops related to admissions of graduate schools, application processes, shadowing professionals, and much more!
