Speaker: Shanya Kane

Abstract:  An interview-style session with Shanya Kane, a retired executive from Agilent.  She will provide advice based on her journey to the Vice President of the Gas Chromatography division at Agilent.  Her experiences as a female executive will provide powerful insight as to how all of us can work together to ensure all individuals are able to reach their fullest potential.

Bio:  Shanya Kane is recently retired Vice-President and General Manager of the Analytical Separations (Gas Phase) Division of Agilent Technologies.  Agilent Technologies is a leader in the global analytical laboratory instruments business and employs 13,500 employees, has $5.5 billion in annual sales, and is a Fortune 500 company. Shanya worked at Agilent (formerly Hewlett-Packard) for 42 years after graduating from the University of Delaware with an MBA in Operations Management and Marketing.  Shanya started her career in Hewlett-Packard in manufacturing support operations.  She has held many business management positions and has an accomplished history of developing leadership skills in others.  She took particular pride in having developed an R&D team in China, where Agilent is a market share leader since the early 2000’s. As a strong believer in people development, Shanya has mentored over 50 colleagues within and external to her organization during her career at Agilent.

Amongst Shanya’s professional accomplishments are leading the R&D team that developed several world-class innovations in analytical chemistry.  For example, the Intuvo 9000 series gas chromatograph was recognized as the 2016 Analytical Scientist’s #1 Innovation of the Year.  She was a respected executive trailblazer in voice of customer (VOC) facilitation and worked closely with Dow Chemical’s global GC Center of Expertise for over 25 years.  The two companies forged a strong strategic technical and innovation partnership over the last 30 years and Shanya led this effort on behalf of Agilent.
