Accelerated Dual Degree Program

The US Department of Labor, along with the NJ Department of Labor, project sustained positive growth over this decade in computer jobs. They have listed the following occupations among the fastest growing occupations over the 2004-2014 period: Computer software engineers, Computer support specialists and systems administrators, Data Analysts, Computer and information system managers, Computer systems analysts, and Internet, Web and data processing services. They project that computer occupations are among the fastest growing occupations in the economy.

A master's degree is becoming increasingly valuable when it comes to working your way into a high-paying career, but there's a downside: two more years in school means more lost income and probably more student debt, as well. 

To meet this need and the demand of competent and highly motivated undergraduate students who wish to complete both a BS and an MS degree, Rowan University now offers 4 ADDP programs. The Accelerated Dual Degree Program (ADDP), also known as the "4+1" program, is offered in:

• Computer Science
• Data Science
• Bioinformatics
• Cybersecurity

This program allows students to complete both degrees at Rowan in five years as opposed to the traditional period of six years (if both degrees were completed separately). Accelerated master's degrees save majoring students the cost and study time of graduate admission tests, application fees, and extra courses. By applying for an accelerated master's program, you can start taking courses toward your master's in your senior year and get dual course credit for both your undergraduate and master's degree.

Here's how this program works.

Students begin taking graduate courses in their senior year accelerating their graduate studies while still at the undergraduate level and at the undergraduate tuition rate. These dual degree programs will allow Computer Science or Computing and Informatics majors to quickly obtain advanced post-baccalaureate computer science training in preparation for careers in education, industry, research, business, and government.

The Accelerated Dual Degree Program is structured so that students first complete requirements for their Bachelor's Degree Program, but begin to take graduate courses required for the Master's Degree Program in the first semester of their senior year.

Our accelerated BS/MS program offers:

• greater flexibility to schedule courses to complete the prerequisites for advanced study
• a seamless transition to the Master’s degree
• the opportunity to complete the requirements for the MS degree within a year of completing the BS in Computer Science
