Scholarships and Fellowships
The Computer Science Department at Rowan University offers many generous scholarships and fellowships for both undergraduate and graduate students. This page contains information about each of the programs and how they differ. If you have questions about any of these programs you can contact Dr. Vasil Hnatyshin at hnatyshin@rowan.edu.
The teaching fellowship is for students accepted into the M.S. in Computer Science program. It has the following additional conditions and benefits:
- Must be enrolled in thesis track.
- Prior teaching/LA experience is preferred.
- Tuition is $1,000/semester, stipend is $18,000 per year.
- You must be active in research, complete thesis, and teach 8 credits per academic year.

Application reviews will begin:
Spring: November 1st and will continue until positions are filled.
Fall: April 1st and will continue until positions are filled.
The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship is for freshman and sophmore undergraudate students enrolled full time at a four year university. It has the following additional conditions and benefits:
- Must be a lawful or permanent resident of the US.
- Must be studying computer science or engineering.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Must be interested in an intership at Lockheed Martin the following academic year.
- Scholarship provides 10,000 USD yearly, with the option for the scholarship to be renewed

The GEM Fellowship Program is for MS and Ph.D. students to enter industry at the graduate level with high-level technical careers. It has additional conditions and benefits:
- Must be a senior, or graduate student at the time of application.
- Must have a GPA of at least 2.8.
- Must contractually agree to intern for two summers with sponsoring GEM Employer starting the following summer.
- $4,000 living stipend every full semester up to 4 semesters.
- Minimum of $16,000 total stipend over the entire Master's program.
- Up to two paid summer internships with a GEM employer member.
- Full tuition and fees are provided by a GEM University Member.

The Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) program is for students accepted into M.S. in Computer Science or M.S. in Data Science. It has the following additional conditions and benefits:
- Must be enrolled in thesis track.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident of the United States.
- Must research in Cybersecurity, AI, Data Science or closely related field.
- Compensation includes full coverage of tuition and fees, an annual stipend of up to $34,000 (based on financial need), funding for research equipment, research-related travel expenses, and books.
- You must do active research, complete your thesis, learn to become a teacher, and anticipate a future career in teaching or research.
