Biography

Dr. Hristescu received her B.S. from Polytechnic Institure of Bucharest, and both her M.S and Ph.D. from Rutgers. Her research interests are Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Parallel and Distributed Computing, Databases, and Artificial Intelligence.

She has taught the following courses at Rowan: Computer Science & Programming, Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures & Algorithms, Data Structures for Engineers, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Database Systems: Theory and Programming, Senior Project, and Advanced Database Systems: Theory and Programming.

My research focuses on developing computational models, simulation, and visualization of cellular protein import through nuclear pores; developing software tools for knowledge extraction from large DNA microarray databases, data mining of gene expression databases, using machine learning approaches to analyze health data.
