Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

As the spring semester kicks into gear, students should still be on the lookout for scholarships and opportunities to make a dent in their tuition payments. One such opportunity available to computer science students is the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship. 

Lockheed Martin is a major security and aerospace business that works with branches of the United States government. The corporation employs over one hundred fourteen thousand employees worldwide, including those with a background in computer science. 

The scholarship was created in 2018, with the goal of offering opportunities to the next and newest generation of up-and-coming scientists. The scholarship opened for admission on January 9th. It serves to provide up to ten thousand dollars annually for freshmen and sophomores with a 2.5 GPA or above. Students interested in applying must also qualify for financial aid already, and be a U.S citizen.

The scholarship is also open to non-computer science majors, such as physics, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, industrial engineering, mathematics, and mechanical engineering. 

The scholarship considers applicants based on academics, leadership positions, long-term career and education goals, participation in community services and events, experience in a work environment, and any of an applicant’s potentially atypical family or personal circumstances that may be relevant. The scholarship also considers if the applicant is a part of a minority group, such as women, racial or ethnic groups, disabled applicants, first-generation college students, and students that identify as a part of the LGBTQA+. Applicants who serve or are a spouse to someone who serves our country through the Reserves, or Active Duty National Guard, are also given special consideration, along with veterans of any of the aforementioned groups.

Applicants are not appraised by Lockheed Martin, but are selected by Scholarship America. The deadline for applications is March 31st, 2023, 4 pm eastern standard time. You can apply here.
